The rufous treepie (Dendrocitta vagabunda) is a treepie, native to the Southeast Asia and a member of the crow family, Corvidae. A long tailed omnivorous, adaptable and has loud musical calls. It is found commonly in open brushwood, agricultural areas, forests as well as urban gardens. The sexes are alike and the main color of the body is brown with a black head and the long black tail with a white stripe in it, wings are also similar to the color of the tail. Main foods are fruits, nectar, seeds, invertebrates, small reptiles, the eggs and newborns of other birds as well as flesh from recently killed carcasses. The breeding season is April and May and usually 3-5 eggs are laid. The nest is built on the trees and bushes which are just a light platform to grow their newborns.
